Bihar: MLA Anant Singh absconding with his bodyguards

Strange are the ways of Sushasan. Sources say that the Nitish Govt has still not withdrawn security cover to Anant Singh, Mokama MLA, who is on the run in a UAPA case. As per Bihar Govt orders every MLA is entitled to two bodyguards. At the time of reporting the don-turned-MLA is at large with his bodyguards in tow!

When asked to comment, a former IPS officer Amitabh Kumar Das told the TMC that only in Bihar, a UAPA accused could have Govt security cover. He also added that a mockery of law has been made at Nitish Kumar’s behest.

The Patna police raided the MLA’s house in Ladma, a village under the Barh police station and seized an AK-47 rifle, 22 cartridges and two bombs on August 16. The caretaker of the house was sent to jail while the MLA couldn’t be nabbed. An FIR, the first of its kind in Bihar, was lodged under the amended UAPA Act.

The Morning Chronicle tried to contact the SSP Patna for her comments but her phone was not picked up. This is not the first time in Bihar, this mockery of law has taken place. When a former Bihar Minister Manju Verma was absconding in an Arms Act case, she was provided with armed house guard. Only after the media made a hue and cry about it, the Begusarai SP had withdrawn her house guard.
