“The Unnao woman who accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar of raping her was critically injured on Sunday when her car was hit by a truck in Rae Bareli. The victim was accompanied by her aunt and lawyer Mahendra Singh, both of whom died in the accident,” Hindustan Times reported.

The woman has been rushed to a Lucknow hospital.

The woman was on her way to meet her uncle Mahesh Singh, who is lodged in Rae Bareli jail.

The woman had alleged that she was raped by the BJP MLA at his residence in June 2017. Her father was booked by the police for illegal possession of firearms and put in jail in April 2018 after her family filed a case against the BJP MLA.

The woman, who was a teenager then, attempted self-immolation in front of the chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s residence on April 8 alleging inaction on the part of police in filing a case against the BJP member.

Her father died the day after, hours after he collapsed in prison, where he had been detained, of injuries he allegedly sustained after being beaten up by the MLA’s men.
BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar, along with his brother Atul Singh, is in jail since 2018.

Last year the case was transferred to the CBI. The CBI had taken her statement in April 2018.

The first FIR, of rape, names Sengar and Sashi Singh. The second FIR accused the MLA’s brother and others of murdering the victim’s father when he was in judicial custody. The third FIR is against the victim’s father, who was arrested under the arms act and put behind bars by police in Unnao.

The woman was allegedly kidnapped from Makhi on June 11 and was found nine days later in Auraiya.
