Veterans Flock to Twitter to show solidarity with Rana Ayyub after death and rape threats to her

Media fraternity and veterans flocked to Twitter to show their solidarity with  Rana Ayyub after she received wild death and rape threats. Earlier on Friday, she shared some screenshots of threats and informed about the same to the Twitteratti. Soon after her posts on Twitter, Media fraternity and veterans flocked to the Twitter to be on the jounrlist’s side.

Jim Clancy, an American Broadcast Journalist and Former CNN International anchor was first among the fraternity to come forward in her support.

“Women journalists face Much More hate, harassment and ugly threats than their male counterparts. But we must all stand together to support Rana and all others who deserve our respect and admiration,” Jim wrote on Twitter.

“I stand with you always as so many do. Sending love and support,” a professor from Boston Law School, Danielle Citron wrote in her solidarity.

“Oh God. Such venemous hate. I am sorry @RanaAyyub you have to go through this. I hope @MumbaiPolice takes action against this person,” Associate Editor of India Today, Shuja ul Haq wrote.

“Shame on all these people . It is ok if they disagree or oppose … but this ! I hope the digital police cell arrests each one of them . More power to you for not stopping in the quest for truth and justice,” Onir, Indian Film Director wrote on Twitter.

“These vile cowards must be tracked down and prosecuted,” wrote Samar Halankar.

“Journalism is becoming a very dangerous profession for men and women but no doubt women journalists are becoming a soft target for on line harassment @RanaAyyub is a brave journalist and a symble of resilience #JournalismIsNotACrime #PressFreedom,” Hamid Mir, a braveheart Kashmiri journalist who is carrying two bullets inside his body wrote.

Apart from support from Samaritans, Navi Mumbai Police have also shown generosity and started investigation in the matter.

”The koparkhairane police station officials just visited me. I will be recording my statement tomorrow and handing over all the evidence including threats on twitter , facebook and instagram. They have promised swift action,” Rana tweeted.
